What are my Legal Responsibilities as an Owner or Controller of a Premises in Cronulla or The Sutherland Shire Area regarding Asbestos Rules, Regulations, Removal and Safe Dissposal of Asbestos ?

In the current environment, the presence of Asbestos on site in The Sutherland Shire is becoming an increasing situation for property owners and property management.

As the manager/owner of properties you have certain responsibilities with regard to Safety on your premises – and this includes Asbestos.

It is a requirement that all Asbestos Removal works over 10 m2 must be carried out by a Safe Work NSW licensed Asbestos Contractor.

SafeWork NSW states – “any Asbestos Cement product – such as Roof Sheeting which has been subjected to weathering, severely damaged by hail, heat/fire, other mechanical action or illegal water blasting is a friable Asbestos product and an Asbestos Removal contractor with an EPA license is required for the Asbestos Removal”
